Responsible Investing for charitable foundations

There has been a boom in charitable foundations in Germany and Switzerland. The public perception is that these vehicles are increasingly being used by people and organizations to help fulfill their social responsibilities.

But perhaps it’s not just a foundation’s public activities that ought to accord with its goals. In an article in “Private” magazine, Dr. Ingeborg Schumacher, Director of Responsible Investing at Kaiser Partner, writes that the financial management of a foundation’s assets should also be used to help achieve the foundation’s purpose. She suggests that this can be done if the foundation follows an appropriate investment strategy.

The Liechtenstein Congress on Sustainable Development and Responsible Investing (LISDAR) 2012 will also be looking at the subject in depth on May 2, 2012. For more information please visit
